Charoses – A KosherEye Signature heirloom recipe

Ingredients
4-5 medium apples such as Gala or Fuji, peeled, cored, and chopped
1-cup walnuts, chopped
1/2-cup sweet red wine such as Manischewitz
1-teaspoon ground cinnamon
1-tablespoon sugar

Directions
We make charoses the afternoon of the Seder, and chop all of the ingredients by hand in our family’s very special wooden bowl. To maintain a coarse consistency, we recommend against using a food processor.
After chopping, stir together all ingredients in a large bowl. Store in refrigerator, tightly covered with plastic wrap until ready to serve.
Adjust ingredient amounts to your family’s taste.
Serves about 10 as part of the Passover Seder
